How To Throw A Tropical Cocktail Party, From The Founder of Tiki Thai
Turn your backyard into a tiki oasis with these tips for decor, music, food, and, of course, libations.

Kelly Magyarics - May 28,2021

To many people, the terms “tiki” and “Polynesian” are interchangeable. But in the Māori culture of New Zealand and other islands, Tiki was the first man created by Tāne, the Atua (god) of forests and birds. At Tiki Thai in Reston, owners and staff not only celebrate tiki culture, they honor it, with a fusion of tropical drinks and dishes from not only Thailand but Malaysia, Indonesia, and India.

The 12 Most Exciting New Bars to Try Around D.C.
Where to find tiki drinks with fiery garnishes, bright Mexican mixed drinks, and dog-friendly beers

Tierney Plumb and Gabe Hiatt - Mar 05,2021

Although it’s low-hanging fruit to suggest that now is the time to reach for a drink, D.C.’s bars are by no means booming. New provisions allowing carryout and delivery alcohol and expanded outdoor dining can only do so much.

Sense of Thai St. Team is opening Tiki Thai in Reston

Alice Levitt-October 8,2020

The Tiki Thai logo is a yaksha, or yak, a good-natured spirit that guards Buddhist temples in Thailand. But general manager Jeremy Ross points out that this yak isn’t typical Thai. “It’s a blend of cultures in the face of the yak,” he says. On top of its head is a pineapple, a symbol of hospitality, but also a reminder that tiki drinks are on the menu.
